The first step after the well-deserved day of rest was the longest stage of Dakar 2012, a total of 722km of which 477 timed. Played entirely in the Atacama Desert in a constant up and down that began at 1400 meters, was 2000 m, 1200 m down, back to 2100, dropped to 1400, reached a peak in 3000, down to 1600 and then crossed the online final 2200m before descending to sea level in the bivouac, the camp of Antofagasta. Dunes, rocks, dust, ruts and breathtaking landscapes in the program saw the Yamaha for another day of: maintaining position for Helder Rodrigues, who finished 5th and kept the 3rd place overall and recovery for David Casteu who arrived at 8 and went for 4th place overall. And now we Olivier Pain, more French than with a 15th place, put another Yamaha in the top 10 in the standings!
